ABSTRACT

It is almost impossible to transport, store, and refine crude oil without spills and losses. It is

difficult to prevent spills resulting from failure of or damage to on pipelines. It is also

impossible to install control devices for controlling the ecological properties of water and

the soil along the length of all pipelines. The soil suffers the most ecological damage in the

damaged areas of pipelines. Crude oil spills from pipelines lead to irreversible changes in

the soil properties. The most affected soil properties by crude oil losses from pipelines are

filtration, physical, and mechanical properties. These properties in the soil are important for

maintaining the ecological equilibrium in the damaged area.
