ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the many-body charge-transfer effects in x-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) are discussed. As the charge-transfer effect plays a more important role in XPS than it does in XAS, the major part of this chapter is devoted to XPS.
