ABSTRACT
A process for removing hydrogen sulfide from sour gases such as landfill gas. The gas, containing oxygen in addition to the hydrogen sulfide, is passed through water containing an iron chelate compound, which oxidizes the hydrogen sulfide to elemental sulfur. Dispersants keep the sulfur in suspension until its concentration reaches 10%. Developed by Dow Chemical, derived from the Dow-Shell *SulFerox process.
