ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an introduction in the Openness, Productivity, and Connectivity (OPC) technology. After explaining the history of OPC, the structure of the OPC Foundation, use, cases, and advantages of OPC, the introduction of the specifications follows. The chapter closes with an outlook into the future.
