ABSTRACT
The international standard Manufacturing Message Specification (MMS) [1, 2] is an Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) application layer messaging protocol designed for the remote control and monitoring of devices such as remote terminal units (RTUs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), numerical controllers (NCs), or robot controllers (RCs). It provides a set of services allowing the remote manipulation of variables, programs, semaphores, events, journals, etc. MMS offers a wide range of services satisfying both simple and complex applications.
