ABSTRACT
As Chapter 1 asserts, successful long-term implementation of a watershed health monitoring program is not achieved solely through good science. A well-rounded, closed-loop approach also incorporates an education and awareness program. In this chapter, we explain why these are essential and describe some techniques for maximizing the educational and community outreach opportunities associated with monitoring programs.
