ABSTRACT
The theory of random sets is developed, within the general theory of probability, for a variety of applications. In this introductory text, we will only touch upon its applications to statistics. Specifically, having coarse data analysis as a potential application of random set theory, we will present in the following sections some preliminary frameworks for random set observations.
