ABSTRACT

It is possible to find subregular planes admitting elations. Only rarely however are there more than one elation axis. In this chapter, we show how easy it is to construct translation planes of even order admitting many elation axes. The great number of examples of this chapter illustrates the difficulty in trying to assign appropriate designations to translation planes. Perhaps the best we can do in these instances is to illustrate the various construction techniques. In this setting, we are mostly considering multiple derivation from a Desarguesian affine plane. The specific examples are due to Jha and Johnson [644].
