ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we will consider simple applications of a theory of natural selection of gene circuits. We will discuss the forces that can drive evolutionary selection in bacteria. The circuit that is selected, according to this theory, oἀers an optimal balance between the costs and benefits in a given environment.
