ABSTRACT

As seen in Part A and Part E, the mechanisms of dose deposition in the patient by a clinical

photon beam are quite complex. They are summarised in Figure 26.1. Note that we refer in this

chapter implicitly to megavoltage photon beams which were dealt with in Chapter 22; detailed

dose computation in patients is not generally carried out for kilovoltage x-ray beams which

were dealt with in Chapter 21.
