ABSTRACT

The term treatment planning is often used in a restrictive manner to refer only to

the production of isodose distributions associated with the choice of a treatment plan

(dose planning). However, it is also used to describe the whole technical process, from

patient data acquisition to treatment verification (Fraass et al. 1998). It is this second

definition that is used here. The whole sequence of events is given, in a simplified form, in

Table 39.1.
