Spectral densities are a central concept in NMR relaxation theory, as we saw in the beginning of this book (Chapter 2). They provide the tool through which measurements of relaxation parameters convey the information on molecular dynamics. Until now, we have introduced the spectral density function for the simple model describing motion of a rigid spherical object. In this chapter, we deal with the theory of time-correlation functions and spectral densities for different motional models, starting again with rigid, spherical objects and moving towards increasingly complex systems.
