ABSTRACT
Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 was released in September of 2004. Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 was a direct result of the acquisition of intellectual property from Connectix Corporation’s Virtual Server product, which was never actually released. Connectix Virtual Server was in a release candidate state in early 2003 when it was acquired by Microsoft. Th e reason for the delayed release (over a year) had more to do with the implementation of security and security audits of the product following Microsoft’s Secure Computing Initiative than it did with new functionality.
