ABSTRACT

Different situations require different plans for all or part of the workforce. Where do they go, what do we do with them? Who do we need?

Whenever a workplace must make a decision to r etain workers (shelter in place), r elease workers, or tell them not to come into work (r emain at home), it usually connotes a significant disruption fraught with operational, financial, reputational, as well as emotional impact. Depending on the length of time away, r elocating/r eassigning people to temporary placements and then r etur ning them to their original work facility may be fraught with stress. This chapter looks at incidents in which these types of management decisions are made and the impact that is generated on the workforce.
