ABSTRACT
The first edition of the 17799 standard, also known as ISO/IEC 17799:2000(E), was published in December 2000 and the second edition (ISO/IEC 17799:2005[E]) was released in June 2005. Several changes-including formatting changes, extensive rearrangement, deletion and merger of controls, and addition of new controls and new control areas-are part of the 2005 update. This update was nearly five years in the making and many professionals from around the world contributed to the updates, revisions, and modernization of the standard.
