ABSTRACT

Package design is a key element of validation. The package must be designed to withstand the rigors of sterilization, transportation, and storage. Therefore, these conditions must be tested for each package design, emphasizing various packaging material combinations. In this way one can be sure that the final package will meet all requirements. Design testing (validation) combined with package process validation (see Chapter 2) provide the basis for a fully validated, effective package.
