In EU countries healthiness is one of the most frequently mentioned reasons behind

food choices [1]. A trend where people want to manage their health through the

foods they eat is continuously strengthening, and, as a result, food products that

communicate healthy messages are increasing on the market. The European market

of functional food is dominated by gut-health products, especially probiotics-live

microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health

benefit on the host [2,3].
