There is widespread recognition that diet can significantly impact the development
of chronic disease. Estimates in the United States suggest that diet plays a role in 5 of
the 10 leading causes of death [1]. Many people intend to eat a healthy diet, but fail
to do so because they associate healthy food with poor taste and extensive
preparation time [2]. This has created a market demand for foods that do not sacrifice
taste and convenience in order to be healthy.
