ABSTRACT
The restoration of missing tooth structure is one of the most challenging areas for the use of dental materials. The enamel that covers the crown of the tooth is the hardest substance in the human body and is very resistant to physical and chemical attack. Direct restorations are put in place and harden by a setting reaction, whereas indirect restorations require a replica of the tooth, which has to be fabricated.
