Nickel-base alloys are currently the materials of choice for structural applications at intermedia-

te/high temperatures between w5008C and 11008C. This is due largely to their attractive

combinations of strength, ductility, fracture toughness, hot corrosion resistance, creep resistance,

and high temperature oxidation resistance. Due to their excellent combinations of properties, they

are used especially in high temperature turbines and combustors for aeroengines and land-based

engines, heat exchangers, and a wide range of thermostructural applications.
