ABSTRACT
However, the operation of the dryer depends not only
on the mean residence time but also on the RTD of
the particles. Therefore, complementary measure-
ments were carried out to study this variable.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) granules of various
colors were used in these experiments. To a white
particle layer some black PVC particles were fed in-
stantaneously onto the upper level of the annulus at
the right side. During continuous feeding of the white
PVC granules, the composition of the mixture (the
proportion of white and black granulates) leaving the
device could be continuously measured through a
calibrated conveying belt and a movie camera.
