Vamac ethylene=acrylic (AEM) elastomers were introduced commercially in 1975 to meet the escalating temperature and fluid resistance requirements of the automobile industry. This high-performance elastomer was designed to combine high heat and service fluid resistance with good low-temperature properties. Good physical strength of vulcanizates, excellent ozone and weather resistance, and excellent damping characteristics-over a broad temperature range, are a consequence of the chemical composition of AEM.
