ABSTRACT
Earthquakes have stimulated considerable research in the development of shock resistance structures, the so-called ‘‘seismic design.’’ Many papers and books document the accomplishments. Seismic design is a rather specialized field and is of considerable importance due to the devastating effect of earthquakes upon the societies and the economies of the regions where they occur.
