ABSTRACT

Tribological compatibility could be defined as the ability to provide optimum conditions within a given range of operating parameters by the chosen criteria [1]. Once tribological compatibility is achieved, the operation of a specific tribosystem is optimized depending on its functions and operating conditions. If elements of the tribosystem are compatible, they quickly adapt to each other. However, the desirable optimum state of a system strongly depends on the specific applications and given service conditions. Besides, the features of compatibility depend both on operational and functional requirements.
