Chiral molecules are ubiquitous in nature and have ever-increasing importance in the
pharmaceutical industry. This process started with Cushny’s observation that one enantiomer
of hyoscamine possessed greater pharmacological activity than the other. Thus, chirality of
drugs and pharmaceuticals has been in the focus of interest for several decades. The discovery
or design and the development of new drugs have been influenced to a great extent by a new
understanding of molecular recognition in many pharmacologically relevant events [1-5].
