ABSTRACT

The potential EXPERT must be up front with the ATTORNEY concerning the fee schedule. The tenns, caveats, and nuances must be spelled out in writing. Any tasks not to be included must be clearly stated in the beginning. Verbal communication always seems to be misunderstood. If a lawyer phones and asks the toxicologist for the fee schedule, the toxicologist may or may not wish to give this infonnation over the telephone. If the toxicologist does do so, immediate verification by letter is prudent.
