ABSTRACT

This Chapter describes the important problem of numerical simulation for nonlinear dynamical systems and its solution by using intelligent methodologies. The numerical simulation of a particular dynamical system consists in the successive application of a map and the subsequent identification of the corresponding dynamic behaviors. Automated simulation of a given dynamical system consists in selecting the appropriate parameter values for the mathematical model and then applying the corresponding iterative method to find the limiting behavior. The chapter introduces a new method for automated parameter selection based on the use of genetic algorithms. It provides a new method for dynamic behavior identification based on fuzzy logic. The fuzzy-genetic approach for automated simulation consists in the integration of the method for automated parameter selection and the method for behavior identification. The knowledge for simulation of the intelligent system consists in the application of a specific genetic algorithm to select the best set of parameters of a particular dynamical system.
