ABSTRACT
When I first began outlining the contents for this book I did not anticipate needing a chapter on technological infrastructure. As I reviewed the contents of my original white paper that spurred the development of this book, I discovered that many of the assumptions I made then about the technological underpinnings affecting software packages had changed. I felt that such a chapter would bring added value and new perspectives on this rapidly changing aspect of the packaged software marketplace.
