ABSTRACT
Investors can e-mail complaints to the Office of Investor Education and Assistance at (Help@sec.gov). Complaints and inquiries numbered 600 during the second half of 1996, then ballooned to 5,000 inquiries in 1997. Total complaints and questions through all media for 1996 totaled over 44,000, according to the Commission’s 1996 annual report. The office evaluates the complaints and if there is fraud, they refer it to the Division of Enforcement, which can be reached at (enforment@sec.gov). There is also the National Fraud Information Center (www.fraud.org).
