Honeywell and the rest of the emerging BUNCH saw a promising future, indeed.
That was before April 7, 1964, and the announcement of the System/360 computer. The announcement stressed that the System/360 was not simply “a bunch of processors and peripherals, but an aggregation of interchangeable hardware units with program compatibility top to bottom.”
