ABSTRACT
The new process is now designed and the organization is eager to proceed. While it is important to move quickly, do not rush. Consider all the ramifications associated with the implementation, including the impact on technology and people. Develop the proper implementation plan for the new process. After implementation, continuously monitor and enhance the new process. A great process poorly executed can be a disaster. Success lies not only in how well the new process is planned, but how well it is carried out. These are the tasks necessary for a successful implementation:
Determine Impact of Technology
Determine Impact on People
Change management
Define roles, responsibilities, training, and staffing
Plan the Implementation
Risk Management
Implementation strategies
Implementation plan
Implement the New Process
Monitor the Process
Improve the Process (and back to implement, monitor)
These tasks are depicted in Figure 9.1. Throughout this book, the focus has been on processes. However, as
we shift our focus to implementing the new process, we need to consider all the aspects of systems management. Systems management is composed of processes, technology, and people. This is depicted in Figure 9.2. As shown by the figure, there is some overlap between processes, technology, and people.
