ABSTRACT
This question came from an executive deeply involved in implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The session was an introductory meeting on the topic of supply chain management. The questioner hoped the answer would be “yes.” As the theme of this book suggests, however, ERP is not synonymous with supply chain management. ERP, at best, is only a partial SCM solution. In fact, it may be no solution at all if it doesn’t improve competitive position.
