ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we describe the Supply-Chain Council (SCC) and the SupplyChain Operations-Reference (SCOR™) model. The opening quotation explains the purpose of the reference model.

Unlike engineering disciplines, SCM has lacked a common vocabulary and framework for building supply chains. Communications across companies and even within companies has been hindered by this missing element. In 1997 Pittiglio Rabin Todd & McGrath (PRTM), a consulting firm focused on technology companies, and Advanced Manufacturing Research (AMR) a research firm, developed SCOR to address the problem.
