ABSTRACT

It has been observed by Yang et al. (1999) that if the average particle velocity is less than .2 times the speed of light then non-relativistic

collision rules yield results that are indistinguishable from the relativistic rules. When this modification is made the dimensionless velocity loses the association with being a fraction of the speed of light. The thermodynamic behaviour of the automaton model, however, retains the thermodynamic properties of an ideal gas.
