ABSTRACT

Regardless of what excellent properties a coating might possess, it is useless unless it also has good adhesion. The coating’s resistance to weather, chemicals, scratches, impact, or stress is only of value while the coating remains on the substrate. Consequently, the knowledge of adhesion of polymeric coatings is of importance. Except for temporary and strippable protective coatings, all other types of coatings must adhere to the substrate to provide the desired protection or decoration.
