Ozonolysis is a convenient and highly effective method of oxidatively cleaving a double bond to give an array of compounds including carboxylic acids, ketones, aldehydes, and alcohols. The final
product depends on whether the intermediate ozonide is exposed to oxidative or reducing conditions.
