ABSTRACT

The most commonly used detection system for microchip applications has been laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) (see Figure 7.1) [159,316,550,670]. In LIF, the excitation light is provided by a laser in order to increase the measured fluorescence emission. To reduce the amount of excitation light entering the photodetector, band-pass emission filters are usually used. In some reports, even two 530nm band-pass filters have been employed [152,557].
