ABSTRACT
Ceramics, which are traditionally called ‘‘refractories,’’ are discussed in this chapter.
Refractories are inorganic compounds such as oxides, carbides, nitrides, and so on. These oxides form the bulk of commonly used materials as most of them are naturally available in large quantities.
