While biocatalysis — the use of enzymes to carry out chemical conversions — has been

employed for many years in various forms, its full potential has only recently begun to be

appreciated as a means to make chemical synthesis more sustainable [1-5]. The use of

enzyme-mediated steps in place of traditional synthetic methodology can address all of the

goals of green chemistry.
