ABSTRACT
Lyotropic liquid crystalline mesophases, and in particular cubic phases, have been of major interest in a number of areas ranging from controlled uptake and release of solubilized molecules (mainly drugs and enzymes) to an environment for growing crystals of membrane proteins.
