ABSTRACT
The rotor models describing its lateral motion are not unique. Rotating machinery rotors are also subjected to torsional and longitudinal (axial) excitation, resulting in torsional and/or axial motion, which might be coupled with the rotor lateral motion. Rotor models of torsional vibrations and coupled torsional/lateral vibrations are also discussed in this chapter. The chapter begins with a short introduction to the notion of rotor modes.
