ABSTRACT

Having covered basic management themes associated with an information technology (IT) initiative, and those deemed critical to its success, it is now time to turn our attention to more technical topics. The development of products, either to use internally in an organization, to sell, or to use in the deployment of services, will be the focus of this chapter. After all, even though management is critical to the success of an IT initiative, without technical activities that result in tangible components, there will be no product and there will be nothing to sell or to use.
