ABSTRACT

Implementing a Process Improvement effort can be difficult but ultimately very rewarding. In summary, the CMMI, like many other models and methodologies, requires:

Numerous processes and procedures to be documented as well as followed by the entire or, at the very least, a large majority of the organization

A set of organizational standard processes Appropriate training of the organizational standard processes A process architecture consisting of the numerous process elements,

approved system development lifecycle approaches, and tailoring guidelines for adapting organizational standard processes for each program and project

Development of project processes, tailored from the organization’s standard processes

Measurement, analysis, control, and continuous improvement. Requiring that much detail and coordination takes a systematic approach to

accomplish the model or methodology goals.
