ABSTRACT

Once the initial configuration is complete, the team can begin developing interfaces and conversions. These are sometimes referred to as part of the reports, interfaces, conversions, and extensions (RICE) elements. Interfaces and conversions are particularly important because they provide links to and from existing systems. As noted in Chapter 16, the commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution, no matter how powerful and comprehensive it may be, rarely exists in a vacuum. To become fully functional it must be connected to the company’s other systems, drawing data from them or sharing its data with them. This is the purpose of inter faces and conversions.
