ABSTRACT
This book is called Supply Chain for Liquids only because “supply chain” is the popular terminology today, not because it is necessarily a good description of how liquids-based companies do or should operate. The phrase “Supply PipeSM” offers a better image of what the Supply Chain for Liquids® is all about, although it loses all of the associations — many of them quite valuable — we currently have with “supply chain.” Words can sometimes get in the way and cloud our thinking as much as they help us clarify and understand, and this is the case related to the phrase “supply chain.”
