ABSTRACT

The role of stimulus organization in the Freedom requirements process is illustrated in Figure 7.1. In the figure, the topic of this chapter is identified by box shading.

7.2 Stimulus Set Architecture At the same time that stimuli are identified and grouped into stimulus sets, the stimulus sets are organized into a hierarchy called the “stimulus set architecture.” It can just as accurately be called the “external interface architecture” because the stimuli are part of the external interface, or the “requirements architecture” because requirements are defined as the software system external interface. The external interface architecture works with the stimulus sets to manage external interface (i.e., requirements) complexity.
