ABSTRACT
Through the 1990s, the use of computers was commonly referred to as electronic data processing (EDP). Now it is more common to hear terms such as Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology (IT) and Information Systems (IS). The term “information systems” (IS) will be used in this chapter to refer to computer-based information processing systems.
