ABSTRACT
Porting device drivers from other RTOSs (Real-Time Operating System) to embedded Linux is a challenging job. Device drivers are part of the Linux IO subsystem. The IO subsystem provides access to low-level hardware to applications using a well-defined system call interface. Figure 5.1 gives a high-level overview of how the applications make use of device drivers.
