ABSTRACT
Materials are generally subdivided fiom the broad categories of structures discussed in Chapter 1 for consideration of electrical properties. Thus electrical properties of materials are determined by their performance as: conductors (metals), insulators (ceramics, glasses, polymers, e.g.), and semi-conductors (doped materials or others with a narrow band gap) (cf. Chapter 1, section 1.10).
