ABSTRACT

Public awareness and education are the foundations of a successful urban stormwater management program. From before the program’s inception and throughout its growth and service life, interaction with, and education of, the public is not an adjunct to the program’s purpose; they are (or should be) a main purpose of the program. This is becoming especially important as the demands of the NPDES permit and its source control philosophy comes more into play in major and minor municipalities across the country.
